Hadith 396

حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنِي عَبَّادٌ الرَّمْلِيُّ قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَتْنِي امْرَأَةٌ يُقَالُ لَهَا‏:‏ فُسَيْلَةُ، قَالَتْ‏:‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ‏:‏ قُلْتُ‏:‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَمِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُعِينَ الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ عَلَى ظُلْمٍ‏؟‏ قَالَ‏:‏ ”نَعَمْ‏.‏“
Fasilah bint Wathilah narrates that I heard my father say that I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Is it chauvinism (asabiyyah) for a person to help his people in wrongdoing? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Yes."

This narration is weak; however, it is established from other authentic evidences that it is not permissible to support an oppressor, even if he is a member of one’s own family or even if there is love for him.
