It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was the most merciful of all people towards his family. And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a son (Ibrahim) who was being breastfed in an area near Madinah. His foster father was a blacksmith, and we used to go to him, while he had warmed and perfumed the house with the smoke of idhkhir grass. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would kiss him and smell him.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ Among the Arabs, it was customary to breastfeed children for a wage, etc. In this way, children would remain safe from illnesses in the clean and pure environment of the villages and would also learn the common language. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) left his beloved son with a woman in an area near Madinah for breastfeeding, but he used to go to visit him and would express love and affection for the child.
➋ People who hold high status generally consider it beneath themselves to meet with children or common people, but the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would show kindness even to his family and children.
➌ Your son, Sayyiduna Ibrahim (radi Allahu anhu), passed away at a young age.
