Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! When will the Hour (Day of Judgment) come?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "What have you prepared for it?" He replied: "I have not prepared much for it, except that I love Allah and His Messenger." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "A person will be with those whom he loves." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: After Islam, I have not seen the Muslims happier than they were on that day.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Love for goodness and for righteous people is beneficial both in this world and the Hereafter. A person will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment with those whom he loves. The Companion of the Messenger (radi Allahu anhu) asked about the timing of this (i.e., the Hour), knowledge of which is with Allah alone, so the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) guided him correctly that the real matter is sound belief (‘aqidah) and righteous deeds, to which one should pay attention, for these alone will benefit a person.
➋ In Sahih al-Bukhari it is mentioned that this Companion said: “O Messenger of Allah! I do not perform many (supererogatory) fasts and prayers, but I do love Allah and His Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).”
➌ The meaning of love is by no means that a person merely claims love while continuing to rebel against Allah and His Messenger. The statement of this Companion does not mean that he neglected the obligatory prayers and fasting, but rather that he did not engage excessively in supererogatory (nafl) acts.
