Hadith 345

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When a man visits his brother who is ill or meets him, Allah Almighty says to him: You are in a very good state, and your walking is good, and you have built a house in Paradise."

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
Visiting a sick person to inquire about his condition is called ‘iyadah (visiting the sick), whereas visiting a healthy person is referred to as ziyarah (visitation). If the purpose of both types of visits is to seek the pleasure of Allah Ta‘ala and to bring happiness to a Muslim, then this is a highly virtuous act for which glad tidings of Paradise have been given. In short, going to meet one another is recommended (mustahabb) and a source of reward. It should not be considered insignificant.
