Benefits and Issues:
➊ That is, do not honor someone in such a way that he is unable to repay it and, feeling embarrassed, experiences discomfort. It is human nature that a person does not like to live under the burden of someone’s favor; rather, if someone does him a favor, he tries to repay it. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said that if someone does you a favor, then repay it, and if you do not have the means, then at least praise him well. In other words, do not show such formality that it becomes difficult for the other person to reciprocate.
➋ In our society, on occasions such as weddings, such formality is shown that the other person finds it difficult to repay, and if he does not give something better in return, it is considered blameworthy.
