It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "It is obligatory for every Muslim to give charity (every day)." It was asked: If he is not able to give charity, then what should he do? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "He should work with his hands, benefit himself, and also give charity." It was asked: Tell us, if he is not able to do that or does not do it, then what? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "He should help someone in need." The questioner asked: Tell us, if he is not able to do that or does not do it, then what? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "He should enjoin good." It was asked: If he is not able to do that or does not do it, then what should he do? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "He should refrain from evil and harm; that too is charity for him."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
A human being is obligated in two ways: bound to perform the commanded acts and obliged to refrain from the prohibited acts. If he is unable to perform any of the good deeds that have been commanded, then at least he should not go near the things that Allah has forbidden. For this, he does not have to exert any effort. If he does so, then any shortcomings he had in performing good deeds will be compensated. Remember that one will definitely be questioned regarding the obligatory acts.
