It is narrated from Warad that Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) asking him to write any hadith he had heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade idle talk and gossip, wasting wealth, and excessive questioning. He also forbade withholding (charity), demanding from people, disobedience to mothers, and burying daughters alive.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ This narration has already been mentioned earlier under number 16; however, only the mention of excessive questioning, idle talk, and squandering of wealth was there. Its detailed benefits have already been discussed in that context. ➋ The meaning of "man‘ wa hat" is to not fulfill what is obligatory upon oneself and to withhold it, that is, to act with miserliness, and to demand what is not one’s right, that is, to neglect the obligatory rights of others while remembering one’s own recommended (mustahabb) acts. This is the worst example of miserliness.
