It is narrated from Imam Hasan al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, that he said: When a people consult each other in a matter, they are surely guided to the best course of action. Then he recited this verse: «﴿وَأَمْرُهُمْشُورَىٰبَيْنَهُمْ﴾»[الشورى: 38] "And their affairs are (decided) by mutual consultation among them."

Benefits and Issues: Allah, the Exalted, has described this quality of the people of faith that they settle their affairs through consultation. Sufyan al-Thawri rahimahullah says: "It has reached me that consultation is half of intelligence." Therefore, one should certainly benefit from the experiences and opinions of others. Those who consider themselves to possess complete intellect are often unable to make sound decisions.
