Hadith 255

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that sometimes while relating from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, he would say: The one who had long eyelashes, whose sides were white, narrated to me. When he turned his attention to someone, he would give full attention, and when he turned away, he would turn away completely. No eye has seen such a person, nor will any eye ever be able to see such a person.

Benefits and Issues:
➊ The requirement of etiquette is that when a person is engaged in conversation with someone, he should pay full attention to him. It should not be that a person is speaking somewhere else while his face is turned in another direction. The manner of speech of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was such that he would converse with complete attention, and when he had to leave, he would turn and depart. If someone called him, he would stop and turn towards the one calling, and then speak. He would not glance around aimlessly like a treacherous eye.
➋ Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) has shown a glimpse of the beauty of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). The reality is that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was more beautiful than all mankind. May Allah, the Exalted, grant us the vision of him in this world and his companionship in the Hereafter.
