It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever eats a morsel through a Muslim, Allah Almighty will feed him a similar morsel from the fire of Hell. And whoever is clothed because of a Muslim, Allah Almighty will clothe him with a similar garment from Hell. Whoever stands at a place of show and fame through a Muslim, Allah Almighty will make him stand at a place of show and fame on the Day of Resurrection."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ “Whoever exposes a Muslim…” means that a person who goes and reveals the faults and shortcomings of his Muslim friend before his enemies, or goes and mentions them before other Muslims, and as a reward for this, they feed him, or they clothe him because of his backbiting or slander against that person—then such a malicious individual, who exposes his friend’s faults before others, Allah, the Exalted, will feed him the food of Hell, which will be in the form of zaqqum and pus from wounds and the like, and will clothe him with the garments of fire.
➋ “He will be made to stand at the place of showing off and fame”—this has two meanings: One is that a person falsely promotes someone and spreads talk of his piety and righteousness so that people are inclined towards him and give him wealth and the like, and then he takes his share from that wealth; such a person, Allah, the Exalted, will make him stand among the show-offs and punish him.
The second meaning is that a person seeks support from a wealthy individual to promote himself and presents himself as pious and righteous so that people are attracted to him and he collects wealth from them; such a person will also receive the punishment of the show-offs.
