It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): Which deed is the best? He (peace be upon him) said: “To have faith in Allah and to strive in His path.” He asked: Which slave (to free) is the best? He (peace be upon him) said: “The one who is the most valuable in price and most esteemed in the eyes of his owners.” He said: What if I am unable to do that? He (peace be upon him) said: “Then help someone who is helpless or do some work for someone who is incapable.” He said: What if I am not able to do even that? He (peace be upon him) said: “Then keep people safe from your evil, for that will be a charity from you upon yourself.”
