Hadith 22

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Glad tidings for the person who treats his parents well. Allah Almighty increases his lifespan."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ This narration is weak. Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has explicitly declared its weakness in Da‘eef al-Adab al-Mufrad, Hadith: 3, and Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth ad-Da‘eefah (4567).
➋ Although this hadith is weak, there is explicit mention in other authentic ahadith that maintaining the ties of kinship (silat ar-rahm) increases one’s lifespan, even if it is with relatives other than one’s parents. As is narrated from Anas radi Allahu anhu, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
((Whoever loves that his provision be expanded for him and his lifespan be extended, let him maintain the ties of kinship.)) (Bukhari and Muslim, at-Targhib: 2519)
When maintaining the ties of kinship in general is a cause for an increase in lifespan, then maintaining the ties of kinship with one’s parents is, with even greater reason, a cause for an increase in lifespan.
