It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty says to a soul: 'Come out,' it says: 'I will not come out except with reluctance.'"

Benefits and Issues:
The meaning of this hadith is that man is, by nature, ungrateful—even when his soul is separated from his body, he does not willingly entrust it to Allah with happiness. Whereas gratitude required that he should have handed it over to Allah with joy, just as the heavens and the earth did. Allah the Exalted says:
“Allah the Exalted said to the heavens and the earth: ‘Come willingly or unwillingly.’ They said: ‘We come willingly.’”
