Hadith 169

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ‏:‏ أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ‏:‏ سَمِعْتُ حَارِثَةَ بْنَ مُضَرِّبٍ قَالَ‏:‏ سَمِعْتُ سَلْمَانَ‏:‏ إِنِّي لَأَعُدُّ الْعُرَاقَ خَشْيَةَ الظَّنِّ‏.‏
Haritha bin Mudarrib says that I heard Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) say: I even count bones with little meat on them to avoid suspicion.

Guidance regarding the treatment of household servants is derived from the narration of Abu Al-‘Aliyah rahimahullah and the statement of Sayyiduna Salman Al-Farsi radi Allahu anhu, that household items should be kept safely so that there is no opportunity for suspicion, and so that the servants are not put to trial.
