Hadith 145

Khalid Absi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that one of my sons passed away, so I was deeply grieved. Eventually, I said to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), "Have you not heard anything from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding this, by which we may find comfort about those who have passed away?" He said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Your little children are the butterflies of Paradise."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ The meaning is that in Paradise, wherever they go, nothing will hinder them. In fact, in a narration of Sahih Muslim, it is mentioned that when they meet their parents, they will cling to their garments and will not let go until Allah admits both them and their parents into Paradise. (Sahih Muslim, al-Birr wa's-Silah, Hadith: 2635)

➋ This ruling pertains to Muslim children. The children of disbelievers will not be able to benefit their parents in any way. However, from some narrations it is understood that the children of disbelievers will enter Paradise. (Bukhari: 7047)

➌ In the best of generations, Muslims would console themselves in their grief with the glad tidings of the Qur'an and Hadith, that Allah will reward them in the Hereafter. Therefore, a Muslim should exercise patience in the face of trials and hardships.
