Hadith 144

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with a child and said: (O Messenger of Allah!) Pray for him, three of my children have passed away. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You have made a great barrier from the Fire."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ In Sahih Muslim, it is mentioned that this woman’s child was ill. She feared that perhaps he too would die (Sahih Muslim, al-Birr wa's-Silah, Hadith: 2636). She requested the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) to make supplication (du'a), from which it is understood that asking someone to make supplication is permissible, and mentioning one’s affliction for this purpose does not fall under ingratitude.
➋ Children who die before reaching puberty will become a means for their parents to enter Paradise and will be a barrier against Hellfire, provided that the parents were patient and were monotheists (muwahhid). The meaning of “barrier” is that they have erected a strong fence between themselves and Hellfire, and they will not enter Hellfire. The necessary result of this is that they will enter Paradise.
