Hadith 135

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”أَنَا وَكَافِلُ الْيَتِيمِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ هَكَذَا“، وَقَالَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “I and the one who takes care of an orphan will be together in Paradise like this.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) indicated with his index and middle fingers.

Benefits and Issues:
Paradise has many levels. Even the last person to enter Paradise will be with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). However, his rank will be very far from him. The purpose of the hadith is that the one who takes care of an orphan will have a rank close to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam); just as there is a difference between the two fingers, likewise there will be a difference in the ranks. (Sharh Sahih al-Adab al-Mufrad, Hadith: 135)
