It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: There is no gulp that a person swallows which is more rewarding with Allah than the gulp of anger that a person swallows for the sake of Allah’s pleasure.

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
➊ Anger is a natural matter which Allah has placed in every human being, but a person can control it, and the one who controls it is truly a person of excellence. The one who loses control of himself in anger is, in reality, the weakest of people.

➋ The narration of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma is also authentically transmitted in marfu‘ form. Suppressing anger and displaying patience and forbearance is greatly beloved to Allah Ta‘ala, provided that a person does so to please Allah Ta‘ala. Allah Ta‘ala has described this quality as being among the attributes of His beloved servants. The remedy for anger and the method of controlling it is mentioned in the following hadith.
