It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Modesty brings nothing but good." Bashir bin Ka'b said: It is written in wisdom that modesty brings seriousness, and tranquility also comes from modesty. Sayyiduna Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I narrate to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and you tell me things from your scriptures?

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ The greater the modesty (haya), the greater the goodness in a person. The excess of everything else can be harmful, but the more modesty there is, the better it is. ➋ No one’s statement, no matter how great the person may be or how beautiful his words, holds any weight in comparison to the command of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). It is mentioned in Sahih Muslim that when Sayyiduna Imran (radi Allahu anhu) heard the words of Bishr bin Ka‘b, he became extremely angry, to the extent that his eyes turned red. ➌ Those who present the statements of elders in opposition to the clear and explicit command of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) should certainly examine their faith.
