It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man chasing after a pigeon. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A devil is chasing after a she-devil."
Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
Pigeon fanciers are known for their heedlessness. They have no occupation except flying pigeons. They have no concern for prayer nor for religion. Only one obsession dominates them. For this reason, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) declared it to be from the Shaytan. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Whoever pursues hunting becomes heedless.”
From this, Imam al-Bukhari (rahimahullah) deduced the permissibility of slaughtering the pigeon, because anything that distracts from the remembrance of Allah must be removed.
