Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, who is the son of Sayyiduna Ali, says that the blessed verse «هَلْجَزَاءُالْإِحْسَانِإِلَّاالْإِحْسَانُ»[سورہ الرحمن: 60] "The reward of goodness is only goodness." is for both the good and the bad. Imam Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, said that Abu Ubaid said: The meaning of «مسجلة» is absolute.

Benefits and Issues: The interpretation of the noble verse: ﴿هَلْجَزَآءُالْاِحْسَانِاِِلَّاالْاِحْسَانُ﴾ is that whoever performs good deeds in this world, Allah, exalted is He, will grant him a good reward in the Hereafter, and will even bestow more from His own bounty. Similarly, if a wicked person does good to someone in this world, he should also be recompensed for it, regardless of whether he is good or bad. In fact, one should behave kindly even towards those who treat one badly. The noble statement of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is: ((لَیْسَالْوَاصِلُبِالْمُکَافِیئِوَلٰکِنِالْوَاصِلُالَّذِیإذَاقُطِعَتْرَحِمُهُوَصَلَهَا)) “The one who merely reciprocates is not the one who maintains the ties of kinship; rather, the one who truly maintains the ties of kinship is he who, when his ties are severed, still maintains them.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Adab, Hadith: 5991)
