Hadith 1288

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was with one of his pure wives when a man passed by. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, called him and said: "O so-and-so! This is my such-and-such wife." He said: "With whomever I may have suspicion, I could never have suspicion about you." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, Satan circulates in the son of Adam like blood circulates."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was observing i'tikaf (spiritual retreat) in the mosque when his wife, Sayyidah Safiyyah (radi Allahu anha), came to meet him in the mosque. He accompanied her outside to see her off to her home, and as two Ansari men were passing by, he stopped them and clarified the situation to them.
➋ From this, it is understood that one should avoid situations that may give rise to suspicion. If there is a risk of misunderstanding in any situation, one should clarify their position.
➌ A person observing i'tikaf (spiritual retreat) may go outside for a need, and it is also permissible for him to speak about necessary matters.
➍ Devils (shayatin) and jinn can enter human bodies and can also change their forms.
