Hadith 1284

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: O Messenger of Allah! Sometimes we find such thoughts in our hearts that we would never be willing to utter them, even if we were given all the wealth on the face of the earth. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Have you found such a thing in your hearts?" They replied: Yes! The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "This is clear and pure faith."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Whispers (waswasah) are from Shaytan, and having aversion to them is pure faith, which does not allow such whispers to settle in the heart. It should be remembered that a waswasah is a thought that lingers in the heart, remains unsettled, and does not take the form of resolve or determination.
➋ In necessary and important matters, one should refer to the scholars and seek guidance from them.
➌ There is no accountability for thoughts of the heart, but one should not allow them to take the form of resolve. Because if they take the form of resolve, it will become a sin.
