بَابُ مَنِ امْتَخَطَ فِي ثَوْبِهِBlowing nose in one's garment
Hadith 1283
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّهُ تَمَخَّطَ فِي ثَوْبِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ: بَخٍ بَخٍ، أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ يَتَمَخَّطُ فِي الْكَتَّانِ، رَأَيْتُنِي أُصْرَعُ بَيْنَ حُجْرَةِ عَائِشَةَ وَالْمِنْبَرِ، يَقُولُ النَّاسُ: مَجْنُونٌ، وَمَا بِي إِلا الْجُوعُ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he wiped his nose with a cloth, then said: "Wow, wow! Abu Hurairah wipes his nose with a cloth made of silk. I have seen myself in a state of unconsciousness between the chamber of Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and the pulpit (due to hunger). People (seeing me) used to say: 'He is mad,' whereas nothing happened to me except hunger."

Benefits and Issues:
➊ In case of necessity, it is permissible to clean nasal mucus or saliva, etc., with a cloth, and then after washing it, it can be used again. From this, the permissibility of using tissues is also understood.
➋ Even after attaining abundance of wealth and riches, the noble Companions (Sahabah) did not forget their Hereafter. They were truthful in character. There was never any affectation in them like that of worldly people. They were never ashamed of their previous state; rather, they took pride in poverty. Nowadays, if someone acquires wealth, people try to make it appear as if they were always rich from the beginning.
➌ Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) used to sit at the door of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) in order to memorize his sayings, so that he would not miss any Prophetic statement; otherwise, he too could have earned a living and eaten.
