بَابُ حَلْقِ الْعَانَةِShaving the pubic hair

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجِرْمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”خَمْسٌ مِنَ الْفِطْرَةِ: قَصُّ الشَّارِبِ، وَتَقْلِيمُ الأَظْفَارِ، وَحَلْقُ الْعَانَةِ، وَنَتْفُ الإِبْطِ، وَالسِّوَاكُ.“
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Five things are from the natural disposition: trimming the mustache, cutting the nails, shaving the pubic hair, plucking the armpit hair, and using the tooth-stick (miswak)."

Benefits and Issues:
➊ In this narration, the mention of the tooth-stick (miswak) is rejected, and the correct view is that the fifth thing is circumcision (khitan).
➋ By "fitrah" is meant the state in which a person can recognize his Creator and accept the religion of Islam; moreover, these practices have been part of all previous heavenly religions.
➌ Removing hair from the private parts and its surrounding area is called "halq al-‘anah" (removal of pubic hair).
➍ These acts should be performed whenever the need is felt; however, the maximum period for delaying them is forty days.
➎ Plucking the hair of the armpits is superior, and this ruling applies to women as well.
