Hadith 123

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Muslim women! O Muslim women! Let not any neighbor look down upon (giving or receiving) a gift to her neighbor, even if it is only a sheep's hoof."

Benefits and Issues:
There are two meanings of the above and this hadith: No woman should consider any gift or present given by someone as insignificant, even if it is something small, because this would hurt the feelings of the neighbor who is giving it. A woman should not think that she will only give a gift if it is something substantial, because in this way she will rarely have the opportunity to give gifts, and the habit of not giving will become ingrained. She should, therefore, give whatever she has, even if it is something small, as a gift. In this way, she will develop the habit of performing good deeds, and when she has more, it will be easier for her to give. Furthermore, it should be noted that small amounts, when combined, become much.
