Hadith 121

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That person will not enter Paradise whose neighbors are not safe (secure) from his mischief."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ "Will not enter Paradise": If he considers it permissible (halal) to harm his neighbor, while being aware of its prohibition, then he will never enter Paradise, because he has deemed something forbidden by Allah as permissible, which is disbelief (kufr). And if he does so while considering it forbidden (haram), then he will not be able to enter (Paradise) at the outset; however, after undergoing punishment, he will enter Paradise. Or, if Allah, out of His grace, forgives him, then that is another matter. (Sharh Adab al-Mufrad, Husayn al-‘Awda)

➋ "They are not safe": Rather, they are always terrorized by him, and remain in fear that he might wrong them at any moment. From this, it is understood that even if such a person does not harm (his neighbors) with his hand or tongue, he will still be sinful and deprived of Paradise due to his intimidation and bad behavior. Because of this person, his neighbors are afflicted with distress twenty-four hours a day. In one hadith, the faith (iman) of such a person has been negated. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith: 6016)
