Hadith 1206

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to his bed, he would recite this supplication: «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي ...... » “All praise is for Allah who has fed us, given us drink, sufficed us, and provided us with shelter, and how many are there who have no one to suffice them or provide them with shelter.”

Benefits and Issues:
The survival of human life depends on eating and drinking. Life is not possible without them. Similarly, a person needs shelter to protect himself from heat, cold, and other calamities, and he also requires someone’s help to be safeguarded from the evil of Satan and other creatures. And if there is any Being who grants all these things, it is Allah. If a person attains all these things, then who could be more fortunate than him? Therefore, he should express gratitude to Allah. How many people are there who wander from door to door and have no one to care for them? The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: Whoever begins his morning in such a state that he is secure in his home, healthy in his body, and has food for one day, then it is as if the whole world has been gathered for him in his house.
