It is narrated from ‘Ammarah bin Ghurab that one of his paternal aunts told him that she asked Umm al-Mu’minin, Sayyidah ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her): If a woman's husband desires her, that is, calls her for intercourse, and she refuses him, either out of anger or because she does not feel like it, will she be sinful in this case? She replied: Yes! The husband has a right over you that if he calls you for intimacy, do not refuse him, even if you are on the saddle of a camel. The narrator says: I asked her: If any of us is menstruating, and she and her husband share the same bed and blanket, what should she do in this case? She replied: She should tie her lower garment tightly and lie down with her husband; it is permissible for him to enjoy her from above the lower garment. I will tell you what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to do. One night it was my turn. I ground some barley and made a cake. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came, closed the door, and went to the mosque. When he intended to sleep, he would close the door, tie the strap of the water-skin, turn over the bowl, and extinguish the lamp. I kept waiting for his return so that I could serve him the cake, but he did not return soon, and I fell asleep. When he felt cold, he came to me and woke me up, then said: "Warm me, warm me." I said: I am menstruating. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Just open your thigh a little." So I opened my thigh for him. He placed his cheek and head on my thigh until he became warm. Meanwhile, a neighbor's goat kid entered, approached the cake, grabbed it, and left. Sayyidah ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I became very worried. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also woke up, so I quickly went to the door (to catch the cake from the goat kid). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Take whatever is left of your cake, and do not harm the neighbor because of the goat."
