It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would enter the morning, he would recite this supplication: «اللَّهُمَّبِكَأَصْبَحْنَا ...... » “O Allah! By Your grace we have reached the morning and by Your grace we reach the evening. By Your grace we live and by Your name we die, and to You is the resurrection.” And when he would enter the evening, he would say: “O Allah! By Your grace we have reached the evening, and by Your grace we reach the morning, and by Your grace we live and by Your name we die, and to You is the return.”

Benefits and Issues: A human being is dependent upon Allah, the Exalted, morning and evening. Nothing is possible without Allah’s grace and favor. Life and death are also in His hand. A person should, therefore, express this belief morning and evening, acknowledging his own helplessness and affirming the greatness and majesty of Allah, the Exalted.
