بَابُ مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا خَرَجَ لِحَاجَتِهِChapter: What to say when going out for need

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ أَبُو يَعْلَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ قَالَ: ”بِسْمِ اللهِ، التُّكْلاَنُ عَلَى اللهِ، لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would leave his house, he would say: «بسم اللہ ...... اللہ کے نام سے اور اللہ پر بھروسا کرتے ہوئے گھر سے نکلتا ہوں۔ گناہ سے بچنے اور نیکی کرنے کی طاقت اللہ کی مدد کے بغیر ممکن نہیں».

Benefits and Issues:
This narration, with these specific words, is weak in its chain of transmission. However, with the words “Bismillah, tawakkaltu ‘ala Allah, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah,” it is authentic. In this version, there is the addition that when a servant recites this supplication upon leaving the house, it is said to him: “You have been sufficed and protected,” and the devil moves away from him. (Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi, Book of Supplications, Hadith: 3426)
Therefore, one should certainly recite this supplication when leaving the house.
