بَابُ لَا يَأْخُذُ وَلَا يُعْطِي إِلَّا بِالْيُمْنَىChapter: Take and give only with the right hand
Hadith 1189

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”لَا يَأْكُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ، وَلَا يَشْرَبَنَّ بِشِمَالِهِ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ، وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ“. قَالَ: كَانَ نَافِعٌ يَزِيدُ فِيهَا: ”وَلَا يَأْخُذْ بِهَا، وَلَا يُعْطِي بِهَا.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should eat with his left hand nor drink with his left hand, for indeed Satan eats and drinks with his left hand." Whenever Nafi' narrated this tradition, he would add these words: "Do not hold or give anything with the left hand."

Benefits and Issues:
When taking or giving something, care should be taken to use the right hand, and likewise, all important and pure actions—such as eating, drinking, wearing clothes, etc.—should all be done with the right hand. If someone gives with the left hand, he should also be admonished. But unfortunately, people seek to please Shaytan and do not care about the displeasure of Ar-Rahman. May Allah protect us from this.
