It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led them in the Zuhr prayer. After concluding the prayer with salam, he sat on the pulpit and mentioned the Day of Resurrection. He (peace be upon him) stated, "Great calamities will occur in it," then said: "Whoever wants to ask me about anything, let him ask. By Allah! As long as I am present in this place, whatever you ask me about, I will tell you." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When people heard this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), they wept greatly, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) continued to say: "Ask whatever you wish to ask." After this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sat on his knees and said: We are pleased with Allah as our Lord, with Islam as our religion, and with Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as our Messenger. When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became silent. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "These events are near. Beware, I swear by the One in whose hand is my soul, Paradise and Hell were presented to me on this side of the wall while I was praying. I have never seen as much good and evil as I saw today."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Sitting on one's knees before an imam, hadith scholar, or teacher is permissible. Moreover, this manner of respect and reverence is not contrary to the Shari‘ah.
➋ When inappropriate questions were asked of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), he became displeased for this reason and said: "Ask whatever you wish to ask today." At this, Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radi Allahu anhu) apologized.
➌ Both Hellfire (Jahannam) and Paradise (Jannah) are creations of Allah Ta‘ala and have already been brought into existence. Hellfire is extremely terrifying, and Paradise is the abode of blessings.
➍ Some individuals take this as evidence for the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) being ‘alim al-ghayb (knower of the unseen), whereas the answer to this is found within the very narration itself. The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) clarified that this is only as long as I am present in this place. Thus, this was a miracle of his.
