It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he described the appearance of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: The blessed stature of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was of medium height but slightly tall. His complexion was extremely fair, the hair of his beard was very black, his teeth were extremely beautiful, and his eyelashes were long. There was a gap between his two shoulders. The cheeks of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, were even. He walked with his entire foot firmly placed, there was no depth in his soles. When he turned towards something, he would turn completely, and when he turned his face, he would turn fully in that direction. I have not seen anyone like the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, before or after him.

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues: ➊ The meaning of this hadith is that whenever the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would go in a certain direction or speak to someone, his full attention would be towards that direction or person. It was not the case that he would be speaking to someone while his attention was elsewhere, or walking in one direction while his attention or face was turned another way. If he needed to look in a certain direction, he would turn completely to look. ➋ In addition to this, other attributes of his are also mentioned: his height was not excessively tall, but rather of medium tallness. When he stood among people, he appeared tall. ➌ His feet were not overly arched so that there would be a large gap in the soles, but rather there was only a slight depth. Most of his foot would touch the ground. Similarly, it is mentioned about his shoulders that they were broad.
