Hadith 1138

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), who narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "When any one of you gets up from his seat and then returns, he is more deserving of that place."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
If a person leaves a gathering with the intention and resolve to return, then he has a greater right to his seat. Similarly, a person sitting in a classroom or in a teaching session also has a greater right to his place. However, it is not appropriate to permanently reserve a place for oneself and to force others to leave it vacant even in one’s absence.
