بَابُ: بِمَنْ يَبْدَأُ فِي الْكِتَابِ؟Chapter: Whom to mention first in a letter
Hadith 1127
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ كُبَرَاءِ آلِ زَيْدٍ، أَنَّ زَيْدًا كَتَبَ بِهَذِهِ الرِّسَالَةِ: لِعَبْدِ اللهِ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، مِنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ: سَلاَمٌ عَلَيْكَ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ، فَإِنِّي أَحْمَدُ إِلَيْكَ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ، أَمَّا بَعْدُ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that he wrote as follows: From Zayd bin Thabit to the servant of Allah, the Commander of the Faithful, Muawiyah. Peace and Allah's mercy be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful. I praise Allah, besides whom there is no true deity. To proceed.
