بَابُ صَدْرِ الرَّسَائِلِ: بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِChapter: Beginning letters with "Bismillah..."
Hadith 1123
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ الأَنْصَارِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ قَالَ: سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ الْحَسَنَ عَنْ قِرَاءَةِ بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ؟ قَالَ: تِلْكَ صُدُورُ الرَّسَائِلِ.
It is narrated from Abu Mas’ud Jariri (may Allah have mercy on him) that a man asked Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) about reciting «بسم الله», so he said: It should also be written at the beginning of letters.
