It is narrated from Sayyiduna Kulda bin Hanbal (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Safwan bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) sent me to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the occasion of the conquest of Makkah with milk, a roasted fawn, and some vegetables. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was at that time in the upper part of the valley of Makkah. I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) without greeting or seeking permission, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Go back and say: «السلام علیکم»! May I come in?" This incident took place after Safwan had embraced Islam. Amr bin Abi Sufyan says that Umayyah bin Safwan also narrated this incident to me from Sayyiduna Kulda (may Allah be pleased with him), but he did not say that he had heard it from Sayyiduna Kulda (may Allah be pleased with him).
