Hadith 1060

It is narrated from Muslim bin Nazeer (may Allah have mercy on him), he says that a man asked Sayyiduna Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him): Should I seek permission to go to my mother? He replied: If you do not seek permission to go to her, you may see her in a state in which you would dislike to see her.

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
The meaning of both of the aforementioned narrations is that one should seek permission from one’s mother before going to her. If permission is not sought, it is possible that the mother may be in a state in which she does not wish to be seen, for example, she may be changing her clothes and the person suddenly enters; in such a situation, she would face embarrassment. Therefore, it is better to enter after seeking permission.
