حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ خِدَاشٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ، عَنْ قُرَيْشٍ الْبَصْرِيِّ هُوَ ابْنُ حَيَّانَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، أَنَّ أَنَسًا كَانَ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ ادَّهَنَ يَدَهُ بِدُهْنٍ طَيِّبٍ لِمُصَافَحَةِ إِخْوَانِهِ.
It is narrated from Thabit Banani (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to apply fragrant oil to his hands every morning in order to shake hands with his brothers.

Benefits and Issues:
The complete form of greeting (salam) is the handshake (musafahah), through which the sins of those who shake hands are shed. Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu, in order to further enhance this, would apply fragrance to his hand so that his Muslim brother would feel happiness.
