حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ الْمُعَلِّمُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، أَنَّ مِحْجَنَ بْنَ الْأَدْرَعِ حَدَّثَهُ ، قَالَ : دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَسْجِدَ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ وَهُوَ يَتَشَهَّدُ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يَا اللَّهُ الْأَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ الَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ ، أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي ذُنُوبِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : " قَدْ غُفِرَ لَهُ ، قَدْ غُفِرَ لَهُ " ثَلَاثًا .
Narrated Mihjan ibn al-Adra': The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the mosque and saw a man who had finished his prayer, and was reciting the tashahhud saying: O Allah, I ask you, O Allah, the One, the eternally besought of all, He begetteth not, nor was He begotten, and there is none comparable unto Him, that you may forgive me my sins, you are Most Forgiving, Merciful. He (the Prophet) said: He was forgiven (repeating three times. )

1302. Commentary:
➊ This great glad tidings from the blessed tongue of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was not only for Hazrat Mihjan (radi Allahu anhu), but for every person who supplicates in this manner. This supplication is also with the Greatest Name (Ism al-A'zam), because the mentioned attributes are unique to the incomparable Essence of Allah, and no one else possesses even a trace of them.
➋ It is commendable to supplicate after completing the prayer and reciting the prescribed remembrances (adhkar).
➌ By saying these words before presenting one's need, Allah certainly accepts the servant's supplication, provided that the remaining conditions are fulfilled, such as: his food, drink, and clothing are lawful (halal).
➍ All the names of Allah are sacred and blessed, but among them are some whose effect is greater than the rest. And Allah knows best.
