حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ ، قَالَ : قَوْلُهُ التَّصْفِيحُ لِلنِّسَاءِ : تَضْرِبُ بِأُصْبُعَيْنِ مِنْ يَمِينِهَا عَلَى كَفِّهَا الْيُسْرَى .
Isa bin Ayyub said: Clapping by women means that one should strike her left hand with the two fingers of her right hand.

942. Commentary:
Isa ibn Ayyub is among the Tabi‘ al-Tabi‘in. Since the purpose in prayer is to alert the imam, therefore using just two fingers is sufficient. Clapping with all the fingers is considered as amusement and play, hence a distinction has been made.
