Hadith 934

Narrated Abu Hurairah: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited the verse "Not of those with whom Thou art angry, nor of those who go astray, " he would say Amin so loudly that those near him in the first row would hear it.

934. Commentary:
Imam Darqutni rahimahullah and Imam Bayhaqi have graded this hadith as hasan, and Imam Hakim has declared it sahih according to the conditions of Bukhari and Muslim. The reasoning from these ahadith is as follows: the follower (muqtadi) is obligated to follow the imam, and the command of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is: «صَلُّوا كَمَا رَأَيتُمُونِي أُصَلِّي» "Pray as you have seen me praying."
When the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, while leading the prayer as imam, said "Ameen," then it is also established for the follower (muqtadi). [
The narration of Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu is evidence that "Ameen" should not be said loudly (shouting), but rather in a moderate voice, in which humility and submissiveness are expressed. Saying "Ameen" by shouting is contrary to humility and devotion, therefore doing so is not correct. Similarly, saying "Ameen" in the heart without uttering it aloud is also against the Sunnah.

Fiqh al-Hadith
In the narration of Bishr bin Rafi', the words: "People have abandoned saying Ameen" are severely false, rather fabricated, because saying Ameen aloud (Ameen bil-jahr) is established from the Companions (Sahabah) and the Followers (Tabi'in).

said "Ameen" so loudly that the mosque echoed. (Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Adhan, Chapter: The Imam saying Ameen aloud)
