Narrated Al-Miswar ibn Yazid al-Maliki: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited - Yahya (sub narrator) said: Sometimes al-Miswar said: I prayed along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and witnessed that he recited - the Quran during the prayer and omitted something (i. e. some verses inadvertently) which he did not recite. A man said to him: Messenger of Allah, you omitted such-and-such verse. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Why did you not remind me of it? The narrator Sulayman said in his version: He (the man) said: I thought that it (the verse) was repealed.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
907. Commentary: Due to human requirements, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam experienced some forgetfulness in recitation, which, firstly, affirms his humanity. His forgetfulness became a means of teaching and legislation for the Ummah. It is stated in the Qur'an: «سَنُقْرِئُكَفَلَاتَنسَىٰ ٭ إِلَّامَاشَاءَاللَّهُ»[87-الأعلى:6] If the imam forgets in recitation, he should be prompted with those verses; if he is forgetting other pillars, then he should be told «سبحان الله», and a woman should alert by striking her hand on the back of the other hand.
