Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet ﷺ as saying: when one of you prostrates himself, he should not stretch out his forearms ( on the ground) like a dog and he should join both of his thighs.

901. Commentary:
➊ In the hadith of Abu Humayd As-Sa'idi radi Allahu anhu, it is mentioned that when he (the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performed prostration (sujud), he would keep a gap between his thighs and would also raise his stomach, not resting it upon his thighs. [سنن ابي دائود۔ حديث 735]
➋ This method of performing prostration is for both men and women, because the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not describe any separate method of prostration for women. The narrations that are cited in this regard—none of them are authentic. For details, see Hafiz Yusuf Salahuddin's book: "Is the Method of Prayer for Women Different from Men?" [مطبوعه دارالسلام]
