Hadith 719

Narrated Abu Saeed al-Khudri: The Prophet ﷺ said: Nothing interrupt prayer, but repulse as much as you can anyone who passes in front of you, for he is just a devil.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
720. Commentary:
According to Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah, both of these hadiths are weak. However, according to those who consider them authentic, three things will be excluded from this generality—those things whose passing in front of a person breaks the prayer, and they are: a woman, a donkey, and a black dog. (See Hadith: 702 and its benefit.) That is, due to this hadith, from the generality of Hadiths 719 and 720, the aforementioned three things will be exempted, meaning that if any of these pass in front of a person, the prayer will be invalidated and its repetition will be necessary. However, the passing of anything else will not break the prayer.

Lexical Explanation:
«لَا يَقْطَعُ الصَّلَاةَ» does not invalidate his prayer.
«إدْرَءُوا» means to repel, remove, drive away. In its chain of narration, there is a narrator named "Mujalid" about whom there has been discussion, i.e., most of the Imams of al-Jarh wa al-Ta'dil have declared him weak. However, based on other supporting evidences, the mentioned narration reaches the level of hasan, as our esteemed researcher has clarified in the research and verification section.
