Hadith 698

Abu Saeed al-Khudri reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: When one of you prays, he should pray facing the sutrah (screen or covering) and he should keep himself close to it. He then narrated the tradition to the same effect.

698. Commentary:
If a person, despite the presence of a sutrah, tries to pass in front of someone praying and persists in doing so, then he is of a devilish nature. He should be stopped even during the prayer, and the manner of stopping is to gesture with the hand. And the meaning of «فليقاتله» "let him fight him" is to try to stop him forcefully, not to fight in the well-known sense of physical combat.
