Narrated Aws ibn Thabit al-Ansari: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Act differently from the Jews, for they do not pray in their sandals or their shoes.

652. Commentary:
➊ It is understood from this that performing prayer (salah) while wearing shoes is permissible.
➋ Opposition to the People of the Book and polytheists is in those matters which have been explicitly stated by Islamic law (shari‘ah) or which are their specific religious or national symbols.
➌ Among us, the aforementioned issue and some other similar matters have become neglected. For the revival of these sunnahs, it is necessary to cultivate a motivation for love of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and his sunnah on the basis of «ادع الي سبيل ربك بالحكمة والموءعظة الحسنه» [النحل : 125], so that the unlearned people do not become alienated from the religion and from the true scholars.
