Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: Mujahid reported: I was in the company of Ibn Umar. A person invited the people for the noon or afternoon prayer (after the adhan had been called). He said: Go out with us (from this mosque) because this is an innovation (in religion).

538. Commentary:
Tathweeb refers, firstly, to the phrase that is said in the call to prayer (adhan) for Fajr. «الصلوة خير من النوم» This is correct and prescribed by the Sunnah. However, here it refers to those announcements and the like, which are made after the adhan in order to call people to the mosque. For this purpose, some tricks are also employed. For example, in some places salutations upon the Prophet (salawat) are recited, in others the Qur’an is recited, and in some places a straightforward announcement is made that a certain number of minutes remain before the congregation (jama‘ah). Any such method is not permissible. It is obligatory upon Muslims that, once the time for prayer has arrived, they should be present for prayer on time. However, while walking towards the mosque, waking up someone who is asleep or alerting those who are heedless or lazy by saying, “Get up, let us go for prayer,” is undoubtedly permissible and desirable; this is not included in the prohibited tathweeb.
➊ Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radi Allahu anhuma) became blind in his later years, so he said to his guide, “Take me from here.”
2. The noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma‘in) had great aversion to innovations (bid‘ah) and the people of innovation, and the eagerness of Ibn ‘Umar (radi Allahu anhuma) to follow the Sunnah was exemplary.
