Hadith 526

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، " أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ الْمُؤَذِّنَ يَتَشَهَّدُ ، قَالَ : وَأَنَا وَأَنَا " .
Aishah said that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard the Muadhdhin uttering the testimony, he would say: “And I too, and I too”.

526. Commentary:
Despite the fact that Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was appointed to the exalted rank of Prophethood, he was the foremost believer and affirmer of Allah’s oneness and of his own Prophethood. In the Noble Qur’an it is stated:
«آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۚ» [بقره 285]
“The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers.”
